I Ciciu del Villar
La gente li ha sempre chiamati ciciu, pupazzi, e la leggenda vuole siano
legionari romani pietrificati dal San Ēostanzo che erano venuti ad arrestare, oppure masche (fantasmi)... chissą. In realtą, si tratta di un centinaio di enormi 'funghi", colonne d'argilla e quarzo sormontate
da massi di pietra scura, risultato di un fenomeno di erosione iniziato 15.000 anni fa, e raggruppati in 42 ettari di Riserva naturale protetta.

The "Ciciu" of Villar
The local inhabitants have always called them the "ciciu", puppets, and legend has it that they are Roman legionaries who were turned to stone by San Costanzo whom they had come to arrest, or "masche" (ghosts)... who knows. They are really a hundred or so enormous "mushrooms", columns of clay and quartz topped by blocks of dark stone, tne result of an erosion phenomenon that commenced 15,000 years ago. They are now enclosed in a 42-hectare protected Nature Reserve.
